Black Eyed Susan, also known as Rudbeckia, is a wildflower native to North America. The cheery yellow blooms can be found typically from June to August. Being a member of the sunflower family (Asteraceae family), a favourite of pollinators, these little guys attract all sorts lovely creatures such as: butterflies, humming birds, and bees. They make a lovely addition to your flower beds as they are deer resistant, surviving your hungry neighbours from the wilderness.
Rudbeckia has been hybridized to create several new cultivars/varieties. Black Eyed Susan can be spotted in an array of colours from pink to orange but the native wildflower can be recognized by its yellow flowers and dark centers as portrayed in Lisa's beautiful drawing.
