Fireweed is a tall bright wild flower that grows up to 1.5 meters tall. It's recognizable bright pink flowers are often found in large patches as this plant can grow by seeds and underground roots called rhizomes. The light fluffy seeds are easily spread by wind and animals. Fireweed is often the first plant on scene after wildfires, growing in open areas with lots of light and often found on disturbed land.
This flower is the floral emblem of the Canadian Territory, Yukon.
